Monday 10th March 2003

Well folks it was a pretty good weekend I guess. Last week I was pretty ill with the flu but I was feeling better by Saturday, thank the lord as the biggest football game of the season took place as Glasgow Celtic played Glasgow Rangers in the top of the league table clash. This game was sooooo important as, if Rangers won, then it would be safe to assume the league championship would be theirs this season. Now, I don't wanna set myself up for any hate mail but, lets just say I am inclined towards the east end of the City of Glasgow. Anyway, I went to watch the game in a bar in the centre of town with my brother, his girlfriend and some other friends.

Fortunately, Celtic won and so we toured a few bars and proceeded to get ourselves suitably inebriated. Some more than others however, Joe you know what I am talking about (or do you not remember??)

On Sunday I went for my customary afternoon bash at Bar Itza, a band called Bacchanal were on the bill this week. I have seen them before and know the guys reasonably well. What can I say about them, its not really my type of music, but if you like middle of the road traditional rock music then they're pretty tight. However, Sundays are more about chilling out in good company with live music, rather than actually, necessarily being in to the music. I don't suppose I'm too likely to see many punk bands on lazy Sunday afternoons in bars on Kirkcaldy High Street though am I?  One can only live in hope I guess!

Anyways, it looks as though we're gonna be at war within a few days. I guess we should be really proud of the fact that we seem to be morally superior to the rest of the united nations given that we, along with the Americans, are the only ones who see the necessity to act as bully states to a country which is not capable of defending itself. I only hope that the united nations has the courage to impose sanctions upon both the United States and the United Kingdom if they take the action that now seems inevitable. I heard today of a troop of Iraqi soldiers attempting to surrender to British forces in the gulf and their request was denied as we are not yet at war. How much of a fight do we really expect from these people? None whatsoever, that's how much!! This will not be a war but a slaughter, which we will attempt to justify in the name of the 'War against terrorism'. The reality however is that George W has failed miserably with the US economy. He also failed miserably in Afghanistan and his bids at capturing Osama Bin Laden. he must take a victory to the American people if he is to stand a chance of winning a second term. So, what's he gonna do? Pick an easy target with lots of natural resources, that's what he'll do. That, ladies and gentlemen is where Iraq fits in. He knows he will take Iraq in days, please note he's note quite so keen on kicking the North Koreans into line. When he has done so, he will be in control of a huge oil resource. This is the real motivation for this action. Unfortunately, in this country, our great leader, Mr. Blair is dancing to George W's tune like a puppet on a string, despite massive protests by both the general public and his own parliamentary party.

I dunno if any of you heard Hans Blix presentation to the United Nations the other day. One point which I found of particular interest was a point made by Mohammed El Baradei regarding intelligence provided by the British secret service which implied that Iraq had been attempting to procure weapons grade Uranium from Niger. However, the weapons inspectors have now discovered that this intelligence was in fact forged. The implications of this on the manner in which we are attempting to justify war are quite profound . Decide for yourselves but, I think that if we are prepared to fabricate evidence in a bid to justify war, then war is necessarily unjustifiable. In fact if these are the tricks we are prepared to play, then we are in fact the terrorist states ourselves.

Anyway, I think I've harped on about this enough for now. So, I'm gonna sign off. I'd be delighted to hear any of your views on the points I've discussed. There'll be more soon. Also, look out for another song on the music/mp3 page in the near future. I am about to start recording another.

Bye,
