The Official Dave Bradley Homepage

Tuesday 21st September 2004

Well folks, welcome back. Sorry it's been so long since I last spoke but i have just been too busy. I know that's no excuse but its all I've got.

Since my last ramblings a lot has happened, First of all the Luddites have split up. This happened almost a year ago now. It kinda made me a little sad at the time because we were just beginning to take off and get gigs lined up etc, then it just somehow went all wrong. So now it is just me on my own again - a true bed room rock star, a legend in my own bedroom etc, etc. Anyway, I have recorded a version of NOFX - Lori Meyers which can be found with my other recordings in the Music/MP3s page. It is not yet finished as i cannot find a woman to sing the second half of the song and it needs a bit more mixing. So if anyone out there thinks they can help me finish this song then, your contribution would be welcome!

Second of all, I was supposed to be going to Thailand last November to live and work but things started to drag on a bit and with one thing and another, I ended up not going and chose, instead, to remain here in sunny Scotland. What a mug!

Anyways, then we got into the winter here and I guess I had a pretty good skiing season. I had several fantastic days split between Nevis range and Cairn Gorm. i think that Scotlands skiing days are increasingly numbered however. Last winter, 2 of our 5 resorts went into receivership, however, I believe they have all been at least spared for the foreseeable future.

In the spring time I discovered the joys of mountain biking and ever since then I have been trying to get out whenever possible particularly to Glentress near Peebles. This place is awesome! It is the biggest purpose built mountain biking centre in the whole of the UK. It is part of a development by the Forestry commission to use the forests for tourism in an environmentally sustainable way. In Southern Scotland there are now seven such centres (not all yet finished) and they are collectively known as the 7 Stanes. I have a link to their website in the links section. It would seem that Scotland is rapidly becoming a haven for mountain biking. I have also just finished building a new bike which has taken me about 4 months but it rocks. I christened it 3 weeks ago at Glentress and unfortunately, the quick release on the front wheel unexpectedly, released quickly as I was descending a particularly rocky section towards the end of the black run. This removed considerable skin from my right arm/shoulder and my right knee. Having learned nothing however, I returned at the weekend just passed and gave the bike another outing. no such miss-haps this time! There is video footage in the photos page showing my brother and me jumping, on the North shore ramps and me on the see-saw. I also recently took part in the British Heart Foundation Red Route Challenge at Glentress. This involved a 12 mile cycle with ~ 2000 ft ascent on the difficult graded red route for charity. If anyone from BHF is reading this, I am still collecting the sponsor money and will send it to you ASAP!

Anyway enough of my ramblings for the moment, I'm off work sick with a cold today and I'm gonna go back to bed shortly as I feel pretty rotten. Until the next time I hope my ramblings haven't bored you too much - if so, tough!

Bye,

Dave B.
